Juan Gabriel compuso 'Amor Eterno' en 1984 para honrar a su madre fallecida. Rocío Dúrcal la grabó primero y la popularizó en toda América Latina. La interpretación de Juan Gabriel en el Palacio de Bellas Artes fue uno de los momentos más emotivos de la música mexicana moderna. Tras la muerte de 'El Divo de Juárez' en 2016, la canción volvió a los primeros lugares de las listas como homenaje.

Voice Leading

The bass line moves through F to C (descending perfect fourth), C to G (descending perfect fourth), G to F (descending whole step), F to A# (ascending perfect fourth), A# to G (descending minor third), G to D (descending perfect fourth). The root motion by larger intervals (fourths and fifths) gives each chord change a strong, decisive character. When the progression loops, the bass returns from D to F by minor third.

F major pentatonic works because every note is either a chord tone or a safe passing tone — there are no avoid notes. For soloing, this means you can play freely without clashing. Over dominant seventh chords, F Mixolydian adds the flat seventh for an authentic blues-rock edge.
