Silas de Oliveira compuso 'Aquarela Brasileira' en 1955 para el enredo de la escuela de samba Império Serrano. Martinho da Vila y Clara Nunes la popularizaron fuera del carnaval. Es uno de los grandes sambas-enredo de la historia del carnaval carioca.
