Juan Luis Guerra compuso 'Bachata Rosa' en 1990 y se convirtió en el disco de bachata más vendido de la historia, ganando el Grammy Latino al mejor álbum. La bachata — género originario de la República Dominicana, considerado música de arrabal durante décadas — fue legitimada internacionalmente por Guerra.
