Gardel y Le Pera escribieron 'El Día que Me Quieras' para la película homónima de 1935, el último gran éxito antes de la muerte de Gardel en Medellín. 'Acaricia mi ensueño, el suave murmullo de tu suspirar' —imágenes de una romanticism que no ha envejecido. La canción fue dedicada a su madre adoptiva Berta Gardes.
