Homero Manzi escribió la letra y Lucio Demare la música de 'Malena' en 1941; Demare la compuso pensando en una cancionista de cabaret. Es uno de los tangos más cantados en el mundo: Mercedes Sosa, Luz Casal y Nana Mouskouri la han grabado. La letra dibuja a Malena cantando tangos con una oscuridad que viene de adentro. D major is one of guitar's most resonant keys. The open D string acts as a droning root, and the open A string provides the fifth. This gives D-based strumming a wide, ringing quality that flatpicks and fingerpicks love.
