Homero Manzi escribió la letra y Lucio Demare la música de 'Malena' en 1941; Demare la compuso pensando en una cancionista de cabaret. Es uno de los tangos más cantados en el mundo: Mercedes Sosa, Luz Casal y Nana Mouskouri la han grabado. La letra dibuja a Malena cantando tangos con una oscuridad que viene de adentro.
