Marcos Valle compuso 'Samba de Verão' en 1966 —en inglés 'Summer Samba'— cuando tenía 21 años; Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 la popularizaron en Estados Unidos. El Cmaj7-Am7-Dm7-G7 es el I-vi-ii-V más radiante de la bossa nova; el puente baja por el ciclo de quintas (Fm7-Bb7-Ebmaj7-Ab7) y vuelve al Dm7-G7 con una sensación de apertura total.
